Jillian Humphreys (she/her) is a lawyer, investigator, and facilitator who brings a practical, compassionate, and objective approach to resolving workplace conflict. She focuses on helping organizations navigate challenging situations in a way that supports fairness, clarity, and productive working relationships.
Before joining Hawkins Lang & Price, Jillian worked at a workplace investigation firm for seven years.

Investigator & Workplace Assessor
Jillian’s practice centres on providing neutral third-party workplace investigations services for public- and private-sector organizations. She has conducted numerous investigations into a wide variety of matters, including bullying and harassment, sexual harassment, discrimination, misconduct, workplace violence, criminal-related allegations, safety concerns, and privacy violations.
Throughout her career, Jillian has worked with clients across a variety of sectors, including private and public companies, Crown corporations, provincial and municipal governments, and non-profits. She collaborates effectively with employers, employees, and unions, helping parties move through conflict in constructive and practical ways.
Jillian also conducts workplace assessments and reviews to help organizations identify and resolve workplace concerns and issues. These processes can be useful in resolving concerns and issues early (before they escalate), and/or where workplace investigations are not appropriate or desired. Jillian’s assessment and review processes are tailor made to suit the needs of each client and result in clear, practical recommendations to help organizations move forward in a positive and productive manner.
Federally Regulated Employers Investigator (National Registry)
Jillian is an experienced investigator for federally regulated organizations under the Canada Labour Code and became a member of the Government of Canada’s Work Place Harassment and Violence Prevention Regulations Registry of Investigators in 2021. She has conducted numerous investigations in the federal sector, including for First Nations governments, federal Crown corporations, air/road-based/rail transportation companies, and grain terminal operators. She has conducted federal investigations into a wide variety of matters, including harassment and violence, sexual harassment, discrimination, and misconduct.
Trainer & Facilitator
Jillian has developed and delivered training for many different groups on a variety of topics, including respectful workplace training (bullying and harassment, discrimination, disrespectful behaviour, and workplace violence), investigations training, and training on informal resolution processes. She has also worked with clients to develop long-term training plans customized for various employee groups.
Coach & Mediator
Jillian is committed to resolving workplace conflict through informal resolution processes, including coaching, facilitated discussions between employees or work groups, and mediation. She obtained extensive experience conducting these processes during her in-house role at the Insurance Corporation of British Columbia (ICBC) and continues to facilitate formal and informal mediations in her current practice. Where appropriate, she guides clients and participants on the processes and its pros and cons, and empowers participants to make informed decisions to resolve conflict productively.

Jillian began her legal career articling with McCarthy Tétrault LLP in Vancouver, later joining its Labour and Employment group as an associate. She expanded her labour relations experience with the Health Employers Association of British Columbia before returning to private practice in another national law firm.
Before becoming a neutral third-party investigator, Jillian was the manager, labour & employment law, at ICBC, where she was responsible for assessing risk and provided guidance on all labour and employment matters for the Crown corporation’s 5,000-plus employees. Managing a team of four, Jillian conducted and oversaw hundreds of workplace investigations, led collaborative and productive labour relations initiatives and negotiations, developed workplace policies, and facilitated training.
