Deanna Brummitt (she/her) is an investigator with significant experience as a labour and employment lawyer and negotiator. She is committed to conducting fair, thorough, and impartial workplace investigations, and utilizes a compassionate approach to understanding and resolving complex workplace issues.

Before joining Hawkins Lang & Price, Deanna worked at a workplace investigation firm and practised as a labour and employment lawyer in the public sector. Earlier in her career, she practised civil litigation at a large national law firm.

  • Investigator & Workplace Assessor

    Deanna conducts workplace investigations and assessments across the public and private sectors and has extensive experience working in unionized environments involving complex, multi-stakeholder relationships. Part of her practice is focused on investigating elected officials both in government and in labour unions.

    Governance & Organizational Support

    Deanna advises organizations on respectful workplace policies, complaint processes, and procedures, and works with boards and elected officials to support good governance, including the development and application of codes of conduct. She is also an experienced trainer, providing training to employees as well as elected boards in these areas.

  • After law school, Deanna practiced civil litigation at a national law firm for three years before transitioning to in-house roles in the healthcare sector where she spent eight years practicing labour and employment law. Deanna moved into neutral, third-party workplace investigation work as her sole area of practice in 2022.
